Grouplove - Ways To Go

Grouplove are back with a brand new single "Ways To Go" taken from their forthcoming album Spreading Rumours. Their previous album has been getting a lot of attention recently with tracks featured on several different adverts here in the UK so with a batch of fresh material surfacing things are looking very good for Grouplove.

Also the new video shows a world leader in a different light, check it out.

The Nineteen Seventy Five

Having changed their name almost more times than I care to count, with their previous names including T H E S L O W D O W N, Drive Like I Do, The Big Sleep and TalkHouse, The 1975 seem to be hitting it big.

Their third 5-track EP, Music for Cars was released last Monday (04.03.13) with their current single 'Chocolate' featuring as the second track.  With the release of this EP, the band seem to have shot into the spotlight with the single being played almost every hour on BBC Radio 1.

Gaining fans from their tours as support band, The 1975 seem to be over-taking fellow Dirty Hit Records band, Little Comets. The 4-piece from Manchester are currently in the States for a series of shows including SXSW and already feature on numerous line-ups for festivals throughout the summer. If you get the opportunity, definitely go and see this band before they start playing huge venues.

If you haven't already purchased their previous EP's, I would high recommend them. Personal favourites of mine include 'You' from the Sex EP and 'Antichrist' from their first EP, Facedown.
All three of the EP's have mixed sound with tracks that would be described as indie pop and others that are more alternate and chilled. Of the three EP's, Facedown is my personal favourite although that may just be because I have had it longer and therefore have had more time to appreciate it.

Why not check all three out and make the decision for yourself!

Cats, Cats, Cats!

So, I decided I would write a post that digressed away from music and towards lifestyle. Here at the UTP, we aim to write about all of aspects of life that we enjoy.

If you love quirky, high quality, cheap and handmade clothing then boyyyyy have I got the company for you!
Me&Yu are a Manchester based company, you can find their store on the top floor of Afflecks.

I personally have two of their t-shirts and am looking to purchase some more! As you may be able to tell from the title of this post, I'm a bit of a cat lady which may be why I'm a fan of Me&Yu, they have a continuously growing selection of cat t-shirts. I already own the oversized cat top which features a print of a drawing one of their team did aged 15. This top is guaranteed to brighten your day.

If you are lucky enough to live in close proximity to Manchester, get yourself down to Afflecks as they often have in store offers but if not, why not have a browse online.

Pedestrian Verse

Frightened Rabbit are back! Their new album "Pedestrian Verse" is out now and as you imagine it is pure audible gold.

But that's not where the good news ends as they are touring the UK this month (I have tickets to see them at The Sage in Gateshead and I can barely control my excitement), if you are lucky there may be a couple of tickets left for some of the dates, but it is set to be the hottest ticket in town!

Also, over at Amazon they have the track "State Hospital" taken from the album as a free download, so if you feel the need to sample Frightened Rabbit's new material then head over there.

Dutch Uncles are out of touch in the wild.

It's been ages since we last posted, we've both been busy with Christmas/new year/work/living in a different country. But for those who haven't heard, the fabulous Dutch Uncles have released their new album "Out Of Touch In The Wild", I myself picked it up on gold vinyl and it looks smashing.

It includes the track "Flexxin" which I think is one of the best pop songs of the year so far (I know we are only up to February) and you can get it for free via their website, just sign up to their mailing list and they give you a link to the download.

If you can, go and catch them on their UK tour, it's happening right now!

Little Comets - 'Life is Elsewhere' Album Out!!

So this Monday saw the release of Little Comets' much anticipated second album ‘Life is Elsewhere’.  To coincide with this release they are currently touring the UK supported by fellow Dirty Hit artist General Fiasco.  Their show in Newcastle, at the O2 Academy on Saturday night is set to be an absolute treat, with support from local singer songwriter, Natasha Haws.  (Have a little listen, she's great!)

I think I got a bit side tracked there. Anyway, if you haven’t already bought your copy of Little Comets' new album, it is available for the very  reasonable price of £7.99 on iTunes or if your more for having a touchable copy, why not order directly through Dirty Hit and receive a unique copy signed by the band themselves! Click Here to order!

If somehow you haven’t already listened to what i can only describe as one of my favourite bands ever, they very kindly have put their entire album on YouTube so you can try before you buy. Nice lads eh?
Have a cheeky listen to the first track of the new album. ENJOY!
